ADRENALIZED

A squad of armed Japanese soldiers came foraging
During the war to that farm where we went a-hiding;
Recalling that incident now, I can't help but smile...
Eleven years young was I then and as thin as a stile.
Not pausing to think, I ran up a steep mountain trail,
A big sack of rice I carried, which load I did fail
Later on to hoist and bring back to our house below.
I was a fool, acting heroic minutes ago...
Zilch! My strength surge ebbed when there were no more foes to dread.
Experience too someday that there is danger ahead?
Do take flight, carry no baggage, pray to God instead!
